take care of your car

October 5th, 2008 by admin

You surely love you your car just like most people do love their car also. You always wanted to take care of it. Maintaining your car is the best way to take care of it.

Some maintenance can be having a trained, qualified mechanic with the expertise and equipment to do the job correctly should perform most of the maintenance on your car. You also should pay attention to what’s going on under the hood. The owner’s manual for your car will provide you with a maintenance schedule for your specific make and model. Additionally, you can do the following simple checks and procedures to help prevent problems - and extend the life of your vehicle.

You can change the oil and filter regularly. The owner’s manual for your car will specify exactly how often you should do this, but a good rule of thumb is to change them every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. If you change the oil and filter yourself, be sure to dispose of the used oil properly.

Make sure to check all the fluids. This includes brake, power steering, transmission, trans axle, windshield washer and antifreeze fluids. Your owner’s manual will tell you how to check these

Check the air pressure level in your tires at least once a month. Your owner’s manual should specify the ideal air pressure for your particular tire.

Make sure all your lights work. This includes headlights, turn signals, brake lights and taillights.

Replace the windshield wiper blades periodically. If your wiper blades are cracked or torn, or if they begin to streak, it’s time to replace them.

Inspect the engine belts. They should not have cracks or missing segments.

Check the air filter. The filter should be clean, not clogged or damaged.

Keep the outside clean
Regularly wash the outside of your car to help ensure it has a long life. A clean car protects against dirt, salt and other contaminants picked up from the road every day. When possible, wash your car once a week and follow the guidelines below when you’re ready to suds up:

Wash your car in a shady spot or on a cloudy day. If a car is not kept cool while washing, the water will evaporate too quickly and could possibly leave spots.Use suds specifically formulated for washing a car. When you use a car wash shampoo or soap, you’ll know it’s made for a car (instead of dishes or your hair). Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the proper shampoo to water ratio.

Start with the wheels, and wash them thoroughly. Use a lot of soapy water and a scrub brush to scour the wheel and rubber tire to remove deep down dirt. Rinse, then use a sponge or washcloth to do a follow-up cleaning. Take extra care of your wheels and tires - they’re the part of your car closest to the road and are subject to the corroding effects of brake dust.

Use something soft to wash the surface. Good choices include a natural sea sponge, cotton chenille pad or sheepskin mitt. These materials have a large number of fine filaments that draw dirt and grime away from the surface.

Wash from the top down, and rinse the car often. Use a final rinse of free flowing water (nozzle off the hose) to allow the water to sheet off the car.

Try polishing dry glass with crumpled newspaper. Unlike paper towels, newsprint does not leave lint behind, and the ink acts as a polish on already dry glass.Wax and polish go a long way
A regular application of wax is the best way to protect your car from the elements. Rain, snow, road salt, pollution and the inevitable bird droppings can all compromise your car’s thin finish. Here are a few general tips to ensure that your car looks great every time you wax:

Thoroughly wash your car’s exterior, as described above.
Use a pre-wax cleaner. A pre-wax cleaner will remove blemishes such as tar, water spots and insect remains. It also may deep clean the paint and remove the remains of your previous coat of wax. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Apply the wax to one body panel at a time with a damp cloth or manufacturer-supplied applicator. If you’re just looking for a nice appearance and good protection, synthetic waxes, which are easily applied and very durable, will do the job. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions regarding exactly how to apply the wax (i.e., in a circular versus straight motion).
Allow the wax to dry on the body panel, then buff it to a smooth shine. The wax usually dries in a few minutes, and you can use a smooth terry cloth towel to buff the panel.
In most cases, a single coat of wax will make your car look great and ensure it is properly protected from the elements. However, for an exceptional shine, you may choose to apply a second coat of wax. Allow sufficient time for the wax to cure - usually 12 to 48 hours - between applications.

Wax often enough to keep your car protected. Natural waxes typically need to be reapplied every six to 10 weeks (depending on the type). Synthetic waxes will last six to nine months between applications.

Keep the inside clean
Keeping the outside of your car clean is only half the job. The inside is threatened by many of the same contaminants that can damage your car’s exterior, including dirt, salt and stones that your feet drag in from outside, cigarette smoke, paper refuse and crumbs. Remove these contaminants at least as often as you wash your car’s exterior. Here are a few things to do to keep your car’s interior clean:
Vacuum what you can. This includes the floors, fabric upholstery, mats and under the seats. Use a narrow hose-end attachment to get into narrow crevices - a collection point for dirt and crumbs. Use soapy water to scrub and rinse rubber mats, but make sure they’re dry before you put them back in the car.

Wipe down hard, non-glass surfaces. Use a damp cloth to wipe down areas such as the dashboard, center console, steering wheel and column and the inside of doors.
Wipe leather surfaces with a clean, damp towel.
Clean the inside of the glass. Use a clean, dry paper towel and non-ammonia glass cleaner to remove any dirty, filmy buildup. When the glass is dry, polish it with crumpled newspaper.

A simple maintenance to your car

The real culprit in engine wear and oil life is the air filter first and foremost; followed by using quality oil and oil filters. An engine ingests vast quantities of air in order to operate, if the air filter is restrictive or a poor filter medium it does two things.

First and foremost; it must trap incoming dirt to reduce the abrasive action of the dust upon the engine’s internal components. Most garden variety cellulose air filters do a modest job of this at best and some cheaper ones do a very poor job which adds up to increased engine wear.

Secondly the air filter must allow enough air into the engine to facilitate combustion; sadly the trade off has traditionally been to create a restrictive filter media that captures dust while starving the engine for air. I’m sure some of you will reply that you use an aftermarket oil wetted gauze filter, such as K&N etc., to improve air flow and on the surface it appears that you are seeing improved performance and/or better fuel economy. While you may be experiencing these benefits; you are also allowing more dirt and dust to enter the engine because these types of filters are not very efficient at trapping the small dust particles and you are increasing engine wear at the same time. Conversely the cellulose filter was capturing more dirt but it was restricting air flow and consequently starving the engine for air and reducing engine efficiency resulting in reduced fuel economy.

The solution to this dilemma is to use an Amsoil EaA Air Filter which is designed to both capture the fine dust particles that cause increased component wear while at the same time providing greatly enhanced air flow which improves engine performance and fuel economy by allowing the engine to breathe freely. These two things are accomplished by utilizing Nano-Fiber Technology to trap the dirt while maintaining greater air flow. In addition the Amsoil EaA Air Filter is designed to last 100,000 miles and can be easily cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or low pressure, 10 to 15 PSI, air at 25.000 mile intervals.

The Cars

August 20th, 2008 by admin

Cars is a 2006 animated feature film that is produced by Pixars one of my favorite movie for children. Actually even the old one will love the movie not just the children. A movie directed by John Lasseter and Joe Ranft. The research says that it was the seventh Disney/Pixar feature film, and the final film by Pixar before it was bought by Disney. Set in a world populated entirely by anthropomorphic cars and other kind of vehicles, it features voices by Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin, Jenifer Lewis, Tony Shalhoub, John Ratzenberger, George Carlin, Larry the Cable Guy and Michael Keaton as well as voice cameos by several celebrities consisting of Dale Earnhardt Jr., Bob Costas, Darrell Waltrip, Jay Leno, Michael Schumacher, and Mario Andretti.

The last race of the Piston Cup stock car racing season ends in a three-way tie between retiring veteran Strip “The King” Weathers, perennial runner-up and dirty fighter Chick Hicks, and rookie Lightning McQueen. A tiebreaker race is scheduled for one week later at the Los Angeles International Speedway. McQueen, eager to start practice in California as soon as possible in order to become Cup champion and gain the sponsorship of Dinoco Oil, pushes his driver Mack to travel all night long. Mack is too exhausted to notice when McQueen, asleep, falls out the back of the truck. McQueen awakes in traffic and speeds off to try to find Mack, but ends up in the run-down town of Radiator Springs, inadvertently tearing up its main street. McQueen is arrested and tried the next day by the town’s judge and doctor, Doc Hudson, who at first wants McQueen out of town as fast as possible, but at the insistence of Sally Carerra, the town’s lawyer, assigns him community service to repave the road.

McQueen finds that the job of pulling the asphalt-laying machine requires a slow pace despite attempts to complete it faster. As the days pass, McQueen becomes friends with many of the townsfolk, and learns that Radiator Springs was once a popular way point along U.S. Route 66, but effectively disappeared from the map when a nearby interstate was built and bypassed the town, causing many of the businesses and residents to leave. McQueen also discovers that Doc is actually the “Hudson Hornet”, a three-time Piston Cup champion forced to retire after a racing accident, who chose to disappear quietly in Radiator Springs. McQueen, encouraged by his new friends, successfully completes the road and spends an extra day in town, cruising with Sally and partaking of businesses from the remaining shops to get a new paint job and tires. However, that night, Mack, followed by the media, finally catches up to McQueen, who reluctantly leaves Radiator Springs in order to make the race on time.

As McQueen prepares to race, his thoughts keep returning to his new friends, and distracts him from performing well. However, he is surprised to discover that Doc, outfitted in his “Hudson Hornet” colors, and others from Radiator Springs are serving as his pit crew. Encouraged by their presence and their incredible pit stop speed, as well as using tricks he learned from them while in Radiator Springs to overcome Chick Hicks’ dirty tactics, McQueen is able to gain the lead. On the last lap of the race, Hicks purposely runs into The King to try to catch up to McQueen, sending The King into an accident. McQueen stops inches short of winning the Cup to drive back and push The King across the finish line, preventing what happened to Doc from happening to The King, and allowing Hicks to take the Cup. After the race, Hicks is shunned for his tactics despite his victory, while McQueen is praised by The King and his wife as well as the press and crowd for his sportsmanship. McQueen returns to Radiator Springs and announces that he will set up his off-season headquarters there, helping to revitalize the town and its business, much to the pleasure of his new frie

Cars that runs by gasoline

July 14th, 2008 by admin

There are cars that runs though a gasoline engine. Gasoline engines is an engine that uses a gasoline or a diesel in being lighter and be able to work at higher rotational speeds and they are the usual choice for fitting in high-performance for those sports cars. With the continuous development of gasoline engines for over a hundred years and as days passes by, they have produced improvements in efficiency and reduced the air pollution that is causes.

The carburetor was used on nearly all road car engines until the 1980s but it was long realised better control of the fuel/air mixture could be achieved with fuel injection. Indirect fuel injection was first used in aircraft engines from 1909, in racing car engines from the 1930s, and the road cars from the late 1950s.

Gasoline Direct Injection or the (GDI) is now starting to appear in production vehicles such as the 2007 (Mark II) BMW Mini. Exhaust gases are also cleaned up by fitting a catalytic converter into the exhaust system. Clean air legislation in many of the car industries most important markets has made both catalysts and fuel injection virtually universal fittings. Most modern gasoline engines also are capable of running with up to 15% ethanol mixed into the gasoline - older vehicles may have seals and hoses that can be harmed by ethanol. With a small amount of redesign, gasoline-powered vehicles can run on ethanol concentrations as high as 85%. 100% ethanol is used in some parts of the world (such as Brazil), but vehicles must be started on pure gasoline and switched over to ethanol once the engine is running. Most gasoline engined cars can also run on LPG with the addition of an LPG tank for fuel storage and carburetion modifications to add an LPG mixer. LPG produces fewer toxic emissions and is a popular fuel for fork lift trucks that have to operate inside buildings
